DJ MARKET TALK: Microsoft Approach To EMI "Unlikely"-Analyst

1016 GMT [Dow Jones] A purchase of EMI (EMI.LN) by Microsoft (MSFT) would be "odd and unlikely," an analyst says, commenting on market speculation that such a deal was being considered. Notes owning one record company would damage Microsoft's relationship with the other music companies, and it isn't really necessary in order for it to get into content market. Adds EMI is expensive on fundamentals. EMI and Microsoft both decline to comment. EMI +1.2% at 283p. (JEK)
