GM Daewoo May sales up 45%

NEW YORK, June 1 (newratings.com) - The South Korean unit of General Motors Corp (GM), GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co, Friday announced a 45% rise in its May sales.
The company said growing demand for its mini car Matiz and sports utility vehicle Winstorm helped the results, with sales rising to 87,525 units last month, from 60,490 units in the same period a year earlier. Local sales were up 22% at 11,637 units in May, from 9,559 units in the year-ago month; while international sales climbed 49% to 75,888 units, from 50,931 units a year earlier. GM Daewoo Auto & Technology added that domestic sales in the first five months were up 27% at 57,827 units, international sales grew 33% to 341,128 units.
