Toyota 1H unit sales above that of General Motors
07/20/07 - newratings.com
LONDON, July 20 (newratings.com) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TOM) Friday announced that its first half unit sales rose 8% worldwide.
The Japanese car maker said that its worldwide sales of cars and trucks stood at 4.72 million units for the six-month period. General Motors posted sales of 4.67 million for the period, which makes Toyota the largest auto maker in the world. Second quarter sales of Toyota were, however, lower than that of General Motors, at 2.36 million vehicles and 2.41 million vehicles, respectively. Higher oil prices have been raising the demand for Toyota’s fuel efficient autos.
