Toyota Motor to resume partial production in Japan

LONDON, July 23 (newratings.com) - Toyota Motor Corp (TOM), Japan's leading automaker, Monday announced that it will resume partial domestic production on Tuesday.
Toyota Motor’s spokesman said the company will resume production on 20 lines at its 12 car assembly factories in Japan. The company does not have enough parts to restart operations at all of its factories. Toyota Motor will decide on production plans for Wednesday onwards on Tuesday. Toyota Motor, along with seven other Japanese automakers, has had to suspend production since July 19 due to disruption in engine parts supplies, following a severe earthquake, which seriously damaged piston ring maker Riken's plant in Niigata, northern Japan. The company’s spokesman said the suspension of production had resulted in an output loss of about 46,000 vehicles since July 19.
