Volkswagen August sales up 12.1% y/y

LONDON, September 20 (newratings.com) – Volkswagen AG (VW-EUR) Thursday announced that its August 2007 sales rose 12.1% y/y.

The German auto maker said that it expects to deliver 3.5 million vehicles in 2007, the highest number of vehicles sold in one year in its history. The company said that the number of vehicles sold since the beginning of 2007 to end-August increased 8.3% y/y to 2.4 million vehicles. The company said that sales in the emerging markets helped its results, with Brazilian sales up 30% and Chinese sales growing 27% in the period between January and August.
