London financial district rocked by six bombs; European stocks plummet

LONDON, July 7 (newratings.com) – Six bomb explosions rocked London's financial district Thursday morning. The European stock index and the pound sterling dropped following the news of the bomb blasts.
London closed its public transport system and evacuated subway stations Thursday, following six explosions in the financial district and at the heart of the city. The bomb blasts occurred in the underground stations at the British capital’s financial district, near Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Aldgate East and at the Kings Cross and Edgware Road stations in central London. A bus exploded near Russell Square, killing at least eight persons. The London police indicated that this could be a coordinated attack. The FTSE 100 dropped 124.54 points to 5105.10 by late morning, while the DAX dipped 3% to 4,474.76.
