Elan, Wyeth start Phase III trials for Bapineuzumab

LONDON, May 21 (newratings.com) - Elan Corporation (DRX) Monday announced its plans to commence Phase III trials for its Alzheimer’s drug Bapineuzumab (AAB-001).
The Ireland-based company said it will conduct the trials with its partner Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. The companies would move forward with the Phase III clinical tests, although the results of the Phase II tests will only be fully known in 2008, Elan added. The drug is for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. The two companies involved said they are in the process of getting approvals from the necessary regulatory authorities.
