NEW YORK, January 20 (newratings.com) – AT&T Inc (T) Friday announced a plan that will enable customers to make and receive calls between the company's wireless network and fixed-wire customers for no charge, a move that will enable customers from defecting to cable rivals.
The company said the service, nicknamed as AT&T Unity, will let customers, who pay a minimum of $110 per month as subscription for both the unlimited local and long-distance calling plan and unlimited wireless plan, make unlimited free calls between their mobile and home phones. The AT&T Unity plan is slated to start on Sunday, with AT&T aiming to market the plan in Cingular stores throughout the wireline operating region. The president of AT&T's regional wireline business, Ralph de la Vega, said the offer is likely to reduce subscription cancellations and help attract new customers.
