CV Therapeutics drug fails study
03/07/07 - newratings.com
NEW YORK, March 7 (newratings.com) – CV Therapeutics Inc (CVTX) Tuesday said its angina drug Ranexa was ineffective as a treatment for patients with a heart disease called acute coronary syndrome.
Although ineffective for acute coronary syndrome, there was no adverse death trend or arrhythmias in patients taking the drug in the study, the company said. Ranexa is currently approved for the treatment of chronic angina in patients who have not shown a sufficient response from other drugs. CV Therapeutics believes that the data would support the expansion of the existing Ranexa label indication to incorporate first line angina.
