Starbucks launches Hear Music record label

NEWYORK, March 13 (newratings.com) – Starbucks Corp (SBUX) Monday said it had created its own record label, Hear Music, for developing records to be sold at its coffee shops and through traditional music retailers.
The Seattle-based company has been using the Hear Music label for the creation of CD’s sold at its coffee shops and also has its own Hear Music radio station on the XM Satellite Radio channel. Starbucks said it would partner with Concord Music Group for launching the Hear Music record label. The new record company would be based in Los Angeles, and Ken Lombard, president of Starbucks Entertainment, would be the new entity’s chief manager, Starbucks added.
