NEW YORK, August 4 (newratings.com) – Ford Motor Co (F), second-largest US automaker, Friday announced that it was recalling 3.6 million vehicles on account of a faulty switch that deactivates the speed control.
The company said the recall spans over a dozen vehicle models, Ford F-Series and Ranger pickup trucks, Explorer, Bronco and Mountaineer SUVs, Econoline vans and some Crown Victoria, Town Car, Grand Marquis, Capri, Mark VII and Taurus Sho cars, built from 1992-2004. Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford Motor stated that the recall was the company’s attempt to alleviate customer concerns over the speed control deactivation switch, which can overheat, smoke or burn and result in a fire under the hood. Ford Motor's recall comes as the second-largest US automaker is trying to stem high losses in its North American automotive operations.
