24 Hour Candle Light Vigil to Save Walnuttree Hospital Sudbury, Suffolk

The 'Hands Off Our Hospital' campaign will be holding a 24 hour through
the night vigil outside Walnuttree Hospital, Walnuttree Lane, Sudbury,
Suffolk CO10 1BE in advance of Monday's key meeting to decide the
hospital's future
The 24 hour 'Vigil for Walnuttree' will protest against the potential
removal of services from and closure of Walnuttree Hospital and will mark
publicly the 24 hours preceding Monday's Crunch NHS Trust Meeting at the
Hospital itself.
Hospital Workers, relatives of residents and supporters will maintain a
24 hour vigil on the Green outside Walnuttree Hospital, following the recent
submission of a petition of over 10,000 people
The purpose of our vigil is to show support for Walnuttree Hospital for
the lives it saves and improves and for the quality of care that it
provides.
The purpose of this vigil is to demand transparency and openness
surrounding decisions on the Hospital's future. The purpose of this vigil is
to represent the 10,000 plus people who signed our petition and to maintain
pressure on those taking vital decisions about a key resource in the East of
England.
As the Local NHS Trust itself states:
Walnuttree Hospital is a vital part of the care provided by the
Department of Medicine for the Elderly. It has 100 beds, three wards for
consultant geriatric beds, one ward for GP beds, and a Day Hospital. There
are also a variety of outpatient clinics serving the general population.
