US gas prices up 8 cents per gallon in the past couple of weeks

06/27/05 - newratings.com

NEW YORK, June 27 (newratings.com) – Gasoline prices in the US have risen at an average of 8 cents per gallon over the past couple of weeks and are approaching the record price of $2.32 per gallon set during April.

According to Trilby Lundberg, which conducted a nationwide survey on gasoline prices at 7000 stations in the US, the average retail prices of all three grades of gasoline reached $2.24 a gallon on Friday, up from $2.16 on June 10. Lundberg said that retail gasoline prices are being driven by rising demand and not supply shortage. The summer driving season in the US has contributed significantly to the high gasoline prices.
