LONDON, October 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bunker Secure Hosting Ltd, a company backed by two highly respected
serial entrepreneurs and a well-known City financier, has acquired A.L.
Digital. The Bunker, which is the only provider of ultra-security, based in
top-secret nuclear bunkers outside the M25, now benefits from the experience
and financial backing that will help it to further develop its IT services
for customers seeking the best in secure data centre provision.
The former company, A. L. Digital, was the owner of 'The Bunker', a
previously built nuclear compound that has seen investments of more than
GBP100m to develop, with major refurbishments taking place in the 1990s.
Aside from 'The Bunker', the company also operates two other top-secret high
security facilities, all strategically positioned just outside the M25. The
Bunker Secure Hosting Ltd. will be able to serve the needs of organisations
across many sectors that need to comply with corporate governance legislation
such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Basle II and FSA regulations, as well as meet the
potential risks that the current geopolitical environment presents.
Technical experts Adam Laurie and Ben Laurie, formerly of A.L. Digital
and known for their work in OpensSSL and BlueSnarfing, join the newly formed
company as Technical Director and Director of Security, respectively. Working
alongside them is City financier Jean-Loup de Gersigny, who becomes a major
shareholder, and two serial entrepreneurs, Peregrine Newton and Steven
Joseph, who join the company as Joint-Chairmen. They have invested
significant amount of capital in the company and will bring to The Bunker the
benefits of their extensive experience of the City, corporate finance and
proven business development skills.
The Bunker Secure Hosting Ltd. takes the risk out of people running their
own systems by offering one of the world's most secure hosting facilities,
drawing on the technical expertise of its original founders, Adam and Ben
Laurie. The new company draws its name from having some of the world's most
secure IT sites, the largest of which being known simply as 'The Bunker', a
top-secret nuclear-grade facility with EMP and TEMPEST shielding, and its own
dedicated connection to the National Grid. Co-chairman and CEO Peregrine
Newton, commented: "At the time, one wouldn't have considered that a nuclear
bunker built in the 1950s and upgraded in the 1990s would be at the very
heart of a new company for the 21st century. We're very excited about the
future of our company, which perfectly addresses the important and increasing
IT security needs of organisations. The business is being re-launched with
significant new funding resources and the experience of leading professionals
to build upon the proven and respected technical expertise of the existing
team."
Technical Director, Adam Laurie, added: "With all the changes taking
place in the world today and the rapid development of new ways to break into
IT systems and tamper with valuable proprietary data, there's an important
role for companies like ours to play in providing ultra secure IT services,
not just managed ones. Data can be literally worth millions of pounds and the
need to protect it is critical to the success of many organisations in
different sectors. We believe that increasingly companies will be seeking to
find ultra-secure data protection solutions and The Bunker Secure Hosting
Ltd. is ideally placed to meet these requirements."
The executive management team of the company is as follows:
Joint Chairman and CEO Peregrine Newton
Joint Chairman Steven Joseph
Sales and Marketing Director Thomas Nikolopulos
Technical Director Adam Laurie
Director of Security Ben Laurie
Operations Director Paul Lightfoot
Finance Director Andreas Theodorou
